Ethiopia's Tigray crisis: Report says war crimes may have been committed

US President Joe Biden has criticised https://myapnea.org/members/ghjuriya/posts the leaders of China and Russia for not turning up to the COP26 climate summit. In a speech on Tuesday night, Mr Biden said climate was "a gigantic issue" and China "walked away" - adding it was the "same thing with Russia and Putin". https://photopeach.com/user/ghjuriya Neither Russian President Vladimir Putin nor Chinese leader Xi Jinping are at the summit in Glasgow. Both countries however have sent delegations to the talks, which are due to run for two weeks until 14 November. China is the world's largest emitter of carbon dioxide, followed by the US. Russia is the fifth largest after the EU and India. More than 120 leaders turned up at the https://www.classifiedads.com/office_services/d8xfcr50v3959 conference in Scotland's largest city.

Countries have https://www.expatriates.com/cls/49134695.html already announced major deals, including a global pledge to slash methane levels by 2030 as well as to end and reverse deforestation by the same year. Both China and Russia are signatories of the pledge to reverse deforestation. Before Mr Biden's speech, Mr Putin virtually addressed a meeting on forest management at the COP26 summit on Tuesday, saying that Russia takes the "strongest and most vigorous measures to conserve" woodlands, according to https://www.construct.net/en/forum/construct-3/general-discussion-7/httpswww-todaykhoe-comzh-164830 a Kremlin press release.

The US http://forum.zidoo.tv/index.php?members/gh-juriya.92058/ president made his comments when asked about the role that other countries - including China, Russia and Saudi Arabia - had played in talks so far. "The fact that China is trying to assert, understandably, a new role in the world as a world leader - not showing up, come on," Mr Biden said, adding that Xi Jinping's absence was a "big mistake". He said the same about Mr Putin, saying that Russia's wilderness was burning and their president https://amara.org/en/profiles/account/ "stays mum" about the issue.

Mr Putin's spokesman https://www.gamedesire.com/player/ghjuriya Dmitry Peskov gave no reason why the Russian leader would not attend when they announced the decision in October, although he said climate change was an "important" priority for Russia. The same month officials warned UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson that China's President Xi Jinping was not expected to attend. It is thought that President Xi has not left China since early 2020. In September Mr Xi announced China will aim for carbon neutrality by 2060, https://loop.frontiersin.org/people/1543385/bio with a plan to hit peak emissions before 2030.

President Putin said https://applecraft.org/community/members/gh-juriya.42694/ Russia would also strive to reach carbon neutrality "no later than 2060" in an international energy forum speech on 13 October. Net zero, or becoming carbon neutral, means not adding to the amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. The UK is hosting a summit that is seen as crucial if climate change is to be brought under control. The meeting in https://xtremepape.rs/members/ghjuriya.317911/#about Glasgow from 31 October to 12 November could lead to major changes to our everyday lives.

What is COP26 and why is it happening?

The world is warming https://www.magcloud.com/user/ghjuriya because of emissions from fossil fuels like coal, oil and natural gas, caused by humans. Extreme weather events linked to climate change - including heatwaves, floods and forest fires - are intensifying. The past decade was the warmest on record, and governments agree urgent collective action is needed. For this conference, 200 countries are being asked for their https://forums.prsguitars.com/members/gh-juriya.40545/ plans to cut emissions by 2030.

They all agreed in https://imageshack.com/user/ghjuriya 2015 to make changes to keep global warming "well below" 2C above pre-industrial levels - and to try aim for 1.5C - so that we avoid a climate catastrophe. Up to 25,000 people are expected in Glasgow, including world leaders, negotiators and journalists. Tens of thousands of campaigners and businesses will also be there to hold events, network - and hold protests. https://mc-drugs.com/members/ghjuriya.25129/#about Extinction Rebellion, for example, are calling for an immediate end to the use of fossil fuels.

At the end of the conference, https://forum.omegarealm.com/members/ghjuriya.60610/#about some form of declaration is expected. Every country will be required to sign up and it could include specific commitments. Expect a lot of talk about money and climate justice. Developing countries tend to pollute less per head of population and are not responsible for most emissions in the past. But they experience some of the http://www.canetads.com/view/item-3196289-https-www.todaykhoe.com-zh-hant-wonders-kellett-films.html worst effects of climate change.

They need money to help https://www.scoop.it/u/gh-juriya reduce their emissions and to cope with climate change. It could mean more solar panels in countries that depend on energy from coal and flood defence systems. There will also be a battle over compensation for developing countries affected by climate change. https://discuss.codecademy.com/u/cloud0342640069/summary In 2009, wealthy countries pledged $100bn (£720m) a year to help poorer nations by 2020. However, this goal has still not been met and could slip to 2023. China's commitments at COP26 will also be very important. It is now the world's biggest polluter and https://ghjuriya.podbean.com/ has investments in coal stations all over the world.

Many observers will be https://letterboxd.com/ghjuriya/ watching how quickly China - and other major fossil fuel producers - will be willing to reduce their reliance on them. As host nation, the UK will likely want all countries to back a strong statement that recommits to net zero emissions by 2050 - as well as big reductions by 2030. It will also want specific pledges on ending coal, petrol cars and protecting nature. Developing countries will want a significant financial package over the next five years, to help them adapt https://about.me/ghjuriya to rising temperatures.

Anything short of this is https://disqus.com/by/ghjuriya/about/ likely to be judged inadequate because there simply isn't more time to keep the 1.5C goal alive. However, some scientists believe world leaders have left it too late and no matter what is agreed at COP26, 1.5C will not be achieved. Prime Minister Abiy said he ordered the military offensive last November in response to an attack on a military base housing government troops there. The escalation came after months of feuding between Mr Abiy's government and leaders of https://works.bepress.com/gh-juriya/ the TPLF, which was the dominant political party in Tigray.

The authorities later labelled the https://site-5964924-564-7297.mystrikingly.com/blog/https-www-todaykhoe-com-zh-hant-wonders-kellett-films TPLF a terrorist organisation and ruled out any peace talks with them. The federal government's renewed ground offensive in recent weeks, including using airstrikes, has failed to halt the rebels' territorial gains. In a statement on Wednesday, Mr Abiy said the government had "serious reservations" https://www.f6s.com/gh-juriya about aspects of the joint report but added that his government was "heartened" that the investigation did not establish the claim of genocide against Tigrayans and did not give any evidence that the government had wilfully denied humanitarian https://www.ques10.com/u/350958/ghjur671/? assistance to people in Tigray, as some reports have suggested.

The spokesperson for the https://www.gordonengland.co.uk/sef/User-ghjuriya Tigray People Liberation Front said the report was "fraught with a number of problems," saying that the involvement of the EHRC was an https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?members/gh-juriya.97105/ "affront to the notion of impartiality". With the Ethiopian government's relationship with the US and European Union (EU) at a low ebb, it is looking elsewhere for new allies to crush the rebellion being waged https://www.dotafire.com/profile/ghjuriya-104891?profilepage against it from the mountainous Tigray region.
